Bosch to Support Jeep Diesel Tour

While diesels are extremely popular in Europe, reception here in the States is much more tentative because of the less-than-stellar performance of poorly-produced domestic diesels several decades back. These problems are definitely behind us with the new generation of advanced diesels here or coming soon from the major automakers. But there's confidence to build...and that's the mission of the 2004 Jeep 101 Tour that's seeking to promote diesel vehicles in five cities and eight military bases around the country. The tour precedes the introduction of the diesel-powered Jeep Liberty that's coming this fall, the first of its kind in the American mid-size SUV segment

Robert Bosch Corp. will be providing its Diesel Learning Center display as part of this effort. The display, which made its debut at the New York International Auto Show, details the advantages of today's clean diesel technology by offering educational information and compelling facts about diesels. Among them: diesel technology's 25 to 30 percent fuel economy advantage over comparable gasoline powertrains, 15 to 20 percent decrease in carbon dioxide emissions, and up to 40 percent higher torque output. In addition to traveling with the Jeep 101 Tour, Bosch's Learning Center will appear at a number of industry, government, and consumer events throughout the year. Additional information about diesel technology can be found at www.boschdiesel.com.
