Dodge Building Ram Hybrid

DaimlerChrysler is now producing its Dodge Ram Diesel HEV, a hybrid variant of the Dodge Ram pickup that's claimed to offer up to 15 percent better fuel economy over comparable engines. The fuel savings come from start-stop capability that shuts the engine off at a full stop and restarts when the accelerator is pressed, and a regenerative braking system that helps recharge the batteries.

The Ram Diesel HEV is based on the Ram Heavy Duty chassis, carrying either the 2500 or 3500 badge, equipped with the 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The Ram HEV will be offered only to fleet customers.
