Extreme Bug-E to Debut at Maryland Solar & Wind Expo

The Solar and Wind Expo coming to the Maryland State Fairgrounds this May 7-9 represents a big step in bringing the renewable energy message to the mid-Atlantic region. Along with exhibits by more than 100 solar, wind, and other renewable manufacturers and suppliers, the expo will highlight electric vehicles and showcase them cruising on an Electric Car Loop.

One of the highlights of the expo is the official unveiling of the Extreme Bug-E, a solar electric three-wheel electric vehicle. Its debut is a prelude to an ambitious 6,000 mile cross-country trek. The Extreme Bug-E, powered solely by an electric motor, will have a solar trailer in tow to extend the vehicle’s range.

Long-time sustainability advocate and Environmental Protection Agency lawyer/advisor Charlie Garlow will begin the Extreme Bug-E trek in Washington, D.C. in June and end up in California. Stops will be made along the way to demonstrate the virtues of solar power and driving electric.

The Solar and Wind Expo (www.thesolarandwindexpo.com) will also present Paul Scott, vice president of Plug In America and a long-time electric vehicle driver and renewable energy advocate, as one of the event’s featured speakers.
