Ford Aims at High Efficiency with 1.0-Liter EcoBoost Engine

Ford's EcoBoost technology allows V-6 engines to perform like V-8s and four-cylinder engines to perform like V-6s. The EcoBoost F-150 pickup with a V-6 is a big hit and the new Ford Police Interceptor equipped with an EcoBoost V-6 outperforms, albeit by a small margin, V-8 powered Chevrolet and Dodge police cars in Los Angeles County Sheriff Department testing. Ford plans to offer EcoBoost on 90 percent of its North American lineup by 2013 and annually produce 1.5 million EcoBoost engines globally.
