GM Supports Ethanol Program

GM has presented an E85 flexible-fuel Chevrolet Avalanche to the Illinois Corn Growers Association to support Illinois' state campaign for ethanol and E85-capable vehicles. The vehicle will be displayed at various events throughout the year. Illinois is the second largest ethanol producer in the nation with six ethanol plants in operation. The state has also invested more than $1 billion in the ethanol industry.

This effort ties in with an ongoing campaign between GM and the Governors' Ethanol Coalition, which aims to increase awareness of renewable ethanol and flexible-fuel vehicles, as well as promote increased use of E85 as an alternative transportation fuel. GM will additionally provide E85-capable Chevrolet Avalanches for use in 25 other states.
