High Efficiency Diesel Motorhome

Winnebago Industries recently unveiled a highly fuel efficient motorhome concept at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association's 42nd Annual National RV Trade Show. The 2006 Winnebago View and Itasca Navion are based on a Dodge Sprinter chassis built by DaimlerChrysler unit Mercedes-Benz. Power is provided by a 2.7-liter M-B turbodiesel engine making 154 hp and 243 lbs-ft of torque. Estimated fuel economy is 17-19 miles per gallon, rather impressive for a motorhome. Winnebago is the only RV manufacturer currently approved by DaimlerChrysler to build on this 10,200 pound gross vehicle weight-rated Class C chassis.
