Lexus Hybrid Has 9,000 Pre-Orders

Lexus reports that it has received more than 9,000 pre-sold orders for its 2006 RX 400h hybrid SUV. According to the company, this is more pre-launch orders than for any other vehicle in the brand's 15-year history.

The launch date for the RX 400h has been pushed back from late 2004 to April 15, 2005, which means this hybrid will be an early 2006 model. The delay has prompted Lexus to extend lease agreements by as much as 12 months for customers awaiting their RX 400h.

This model also marks the first time that Lexus will implement a retail ordering program that will find a customer name assigned to a specific vehicle prior to its production, allowing it to be tracked throughout the distribution process.
