Lexus Shows GS 450h Hybrid

Lexus has now publicly shown its 2007 GS 450h, the second hybrid in the Lexus lineup and a model destined to be the world's first hybrid luxury sedan when it comes to dealers early next year. The rear-drive GS 450h combines a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a high-output electric motor to put out better than 300 horsepower, offering 0-60 acceleration of less than six seconds. While power reflects that of a 4.5-liter V-8, fuel economy is said to be similar to a 2.0-liter four cylinder economy sedan. The GS 450h is designed to be the premium model in the GS series, with many of the optional features from the GS 300 and 430 coming standard on the GS 450h. Some subtle visual differences exist, such as 18-inch light-alloy wheels and a power meter that replaces the tachometer.
