New NorCal EV Charging Station

The city of Vacaville, California, already noted for its prolific support of electric and alternative fuel vehicles, has dedicated a new electric vehicle charging facility. The Bella Vista Road Park and Ride Lot features 201 parking spaces, with six of these serviced by electric vehicle chargers to encourage EV use. Four small paddle inductive chargers and two conductive chargers are provided.

The site is powered by a 45 kW carport-mounted EI Solutions photovoltaic system that handles the needs of these chargers and the park and ride lot's irrigation controls and lighting.

The facility was established to encourage drivers to leave their vehicles at the lot and walk to Vacaville's nearby Regional Transportation Center, with the goal of decreasing traffic on busy Interstate 80. It was built with $1.7 million in funding from the state, regional air quality districts, and the federal government.
