Porsche, Ferrari Get MPG Fines

While not completely unexpected, there's proof again that extremely high performance cars don't necessarily mesh well with fuel economy goals. Case in point: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has leveled hefty fines against Porsche Cars North America and Ferrari Maserati North America for failure to meet CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards. NHTSA fined Ferrari $1.1 million and Porsche $7.9 million...the latter about the same value as 18 Carrera GT roadsters.
