Toyota Making More Hybrid Motors

Toyota is increasing production of electric traction motors to meet high demand for hybrid electric vehicles in the U.S. The increase will boost motor production to 400,000 units annually, an increase of about 30%. Hybrid sales in the U.S. market have increased markedly due to rising gasoline prices. Toyota produces multiple hybrids here including the Prius, Highlander, and Lexus RX 400h. A hybrid variant of the popular Toyota Camry is coming next year along with a hybrid Lexus GS 450h sedan.
