ZAP smart Car Orders Growing

Electric car marketer ZAP reports that it has received a 100-unit wholesale purchase order for the smart car, the second such order within a month, which the company says brings its total sales in wholesale fleet orders to $4.98 million. ZAP also reports it is in discussion with a number of government and corporate fleets as well as automotive wholesale dealers for purchase orders of 100 or more cars.

Following an approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency last November, ZAP has begun organizing U.S. marketing and distribution for the smart car, which is imported into the country and upfitted to U.S. specifications by SMART-Automobile LLC, an importer with no affiliation to smart car manufacturer DaimlerChrysler.
