ZAP smart Cars Waiting on EPA

In a perfect example of why we have clichés - such as "They never said it would be easy" - electric auto firm ZAP is still awaiting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approval for the required Statement of Conformity that will allow the sale of its modified, U.S. compliant smart cars in the U.S. ZAP has been anticipating the approval since the first batch of 100 smart cars was delivered in May of this year, when the company was poised to begin selling the cars and promote its dealer program.

To date, the company says that over 3,000 people have registered an interest in buying a smart through the zapworld.com website, underscoring the firm's belief that timing couldn't be better for this highly-efficient vehicle.
