Electrics of a Different Stripe

Electric vehicle marketer ZAP (zapworld.com) has shown a new micro-car called the XEBRA, an $8,995 (plus dealer prep) three-wheeled electric model designed to travel at a top speed of 40 mph with a range up to 40 miles per charge. ZAP's aim is to offer an economical alterna­tive to gasoline cars for around-town use by fleets and consumers.

 

The com­pany says it's also working to develop other vehicles as part of its automotive business plan, which includes a new ethanol powered micro-car from Brazil. ZAP has recently shipped its 200th smart car that's been Americanized for the U.S. market.
